2007 EAME Coach Development Seminar

Wednesday, April 11, 2007
Posted by Sid

The EAME Coaching Commission held their 8th annual Coaching Development Seminar in Croatia last weekend with an excellent attendance of 34 coaches from 5 countries attending the 2.5 day event. As part of the IWSF Development Commission’s policy of targeting Regional Games, the EAME Commission are working towards the first time water skiing has been included in the Mediterranean Games at the edition to be held in Pescara in 2009. The Commission are targeting countries that do not regularly enter skiers or teams to European events and as part of this strategy the Croatian Water Ski Federation hosted the 8th Coach Development Seminar. Coaches from Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, Hungary and Cyprus attended and there was an excellent cross discipline presence. The Seminar now concentrates on the 3 events that will be featuring in Pescara – Slalom, Trick & Wakeboard – so regular presenters Jean Michel Cau (FRA) and John Wood (GBR) were pleased to welcome Olivier Delafortrie (BEL) to the presenting team that deliver the seminars. Olivier delivered the Wakeboard session of the programme and gave a first class presentation. The venue was the Hotel Vila Ruzica in Crikvenica – a tourist destination near Rijeka in the north of Croatia - which provided both the accommodation and the meeting room.

IWSF Chairman Kuno Ritschard and Vice President Franz Kuhn were also in attendance as both observers and to hold IWSF meetings. Kuno took time out to welcome the coaches and also to update them on the work of the IWSF as it continues with its development of the sport worldwide, the Mediterranean Games being an example of its strategy.
